"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything." - Plato

I discovered this young artist a few weeks ago and I really liked his music. His artist name is Lonely Band, he is from Paris and sings and produces. He released his first EP, “T.H.E.M” in late May. 3 dark tracks and an interlude. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I enjoyed it. An interview will be online soon.

4 – First Crash by Lonely Band

One of my fav french artist : Dal-Gren aka Walter Mecca releasing a sick video as usual, this time “Disco Rouge” my favorite song off Tonnerre released in 2010. Get yours on weirdata.com

Here is Sene‘s new project called “Exit, Us“, a 10 minutes compilation of songs linked by dialogs/interlude. Give it a listen and I’m sure you will love it as much as I do. This emcee is refreshing to me, makes me think of Blu and Jay Electronica (both for different reason : format, flow, lyrics, spirit…).
The first track is def my favorite with a dope first verse:

If I could ride Pegasus, back to exodus
Before the apple Adam ate, before able exited
before we made the atom split, we were all African
kings were brown and black again
before slave trafficking, before computers
if I could pick a territory it would be Zamunda,
before Kunta, before rumors of a Lucifer,
before I had to watch my back from the sirens on a Lumina,
or before I had to go and see my homies at they funeral,
my life is beautiful, my life is brutal tho,
era of the crack game, beepers and the crap games,
AIDS became the black plague,
and angels changed they last names,
big body Benzes, graffitti on the benches,
friends turning friends in to get a lighter sentence,
so if you hit heaven any earlier than I,
just know that I’m trying to make amends

Thanks to Sweeney for sharing and sending me good music like that.

Here is the last show of the 2010/2011 season with – as usual – a really dope selection and some guests.
Enjoy the mix.

Always something to end a season; so I had to do it in style… but after 12 years, you know how to deal with that. I left me and colleagues interventions on this one…
The show will be back in september on the FM waves, that’s an evidence and I’m working on some extras to give the show more exposure next season. – Lefto

The homie Knxwledge doing it well as usual. His “tribute” to Gil Scott-heron (actually did that song before his death). That song was one of my fav last year. The drums !!!

Rest in peace Gil Scott Heron.

Chris Dave gave an amazing show yesterday in Paris at the club New Morning with Pino Palladino, Kebbi Williams and Tim Stewart. All amazing musicians. The show was so great with a bunch of covers between hip hop jazz and free jazz. Here for you two songs I recorded (with the iphone so don’t expect too great) : Fall in Love (Jay dee) and The Root (d’angelo).

Enjoy.

I have a new dream: I want to hear Thundercat featuring K?m.f. They could make some classic stuff together.

K?m.f. – Loser’s Quest

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

K?m.f. is a French producer/musician now living in Japan. He is known to be half of the French duo Metal Ninja (with Walter Mecca aka Dal-gren) – are you lost already?
This is his first solo album and let me tell you something : this is classic ish. I mean it, the music is amazing, the guitar really dope, the atmosphere really special. I’m really proud of what he came up with for a first album, he just did it so right. The album contents 17 tracks, including 3 tracks with Dal-Gren. I can’t really explain to you the kind of music, it’s instrumental, it’s beautiful, it’s a mix of funk, rock, psychedelic, a little of hip hop… No matter the type of music, it sounds just like a classic album to me, really cinematographic to me.
You can buy it in MP3 just as I did or buy the VHS/USB packaging that is a little too expensive for me but this may be classic stuff, if you have the money, buy it (I’m not saying this is too expensive for what it is, because this is home made VHS, lot of work). Half of the money is going to the Red Cross in Japan, please yourself with some good music and help people out there.

Loser’ s Quest Teaser (extended rough mix) by k?m.f.

Some words from K?mf
As some of you already know, I’ve been living in Japan for a few months now… Luckily, I live on the island of Kyushu in the south of Japan which wasn’t physically impacted by the earthquake, Tsunami and radioactive leaks that followed! The reaction of the Japanese people in light of this disaster imposes my respect. Despite the composure and dignity with which they have been dealing with this catastrophe, the situation in Japan requires immediate action and the solidarity of each and everyone of us. Consequently, we’ve decided, with Weirdata, to donate 50% of all sales of my digital album “Loser’s Quest” to the Red Cross Association in Japan. Please do not see this as a scam or a ploy of some kind to profit from this chaotic situation! It’s just a small attempt, at our level, to contribute, if even just a little, to the rebuilding efforts in Japan, a country that needs our support! Furthermore, this action is fully consistent with the spirit conveyed by the album …
Thank you for your attention and support.

Pour tout les français (désolée je suis assez fainéante pour traduire en français) allez sur Stereotree pour découvrir K?mf en version Fr, une interview vous y attends.
