Teebs (LA, Brainfeeder) and Jackhigh (UK, Ghostly International) released an EP lately called “The Tropics“. The music is nice, I must admit I’m not a BIG fan of it however I LOVE Teebs’s art and for this project he painted 23 different covers (painted over old records), you should buy one, it’s easy you go on this page and you make a bid, it starts at 26$. Good Luck, I made one too, hoping to have the one I want.

Paris was the first show Doom did in Europe. First time after 20 years of career. After this one, he did Amsterdam and London. I’m really proud I’ve been part of this show and help a bit Free Your Funk that organized this show. They (Emmanuel Forlani and Denis Jelen = Free your funk) did a great job, done everything to make this show work. Of course as most of you know, Doom likes to send unknown people on stage with the mask on. That was the main question : Will the real Doom be on stage or not. The sound engineer and the manager were really relax “Don’t worry it will be him“. And we were as well relax when we finally saw the real Doom around, late in the afternoon.

Doom came 20 minutes before the show and stayed on stage 1 hour with two encore and left immediately after the show. I know some people were disappointed but I think that the real fan of Doom was really happy. Doom IS NOT a great performer anyway + he usually does not give a f*** and sends someone else on stage instead of going on stage, or sometimes he sends someone on for 30 minutes and then comes and does like 3 songs and leaves. It was the real Doom for an hour, did lot of his classical.
The only bad point for me was that : HE DID NOT DO RHINESTONES COWBOY ! I told him I really wanted this song, he told me “oh really, I will do it in Amsterdam and London then”, hope he did for the people that were at those shows, this songs is def my fav.

Friday night Omar was performing in Sannois, Parisian’s suburb, in a little place I like, EMB, where I already saw Amp Fiddler, years ago. It was the first time I saw Omar and I was really happy. The energy was kind of slow at the beginning but ended up really nicely, on some classics joints with lot more energy. I had a great time with my friends enjoying the performance. Omar is def one of the greatest nu soul artists.

Vendredi soir quelques jours après son concert au New Morning, Omar donnait un concert à Sannois, à l’EMB, petite salle de banlieue que j’aime beaucoup, j’avais gardé de bon souvenirs du concert de Amp Fiddler. C’était la première fois que je voyais Omar en concert, j’étais donc très heureuse. Le concert à commencé assez doucement, peut-être trop doucement à mon goût mais l’énergie a monté petit à petit pour finir merveilleusement bien, dansant et sur les classiques du Monsieur. Très bon moment passé avec mes amis, comme j’aime, en musique. Omar est vraiment l’un des meilleurs artistes nu soul et malheureusement pas aussi populaire qu’il le mériterait.

Sean Price was in Paris for a live with a crazy line-up by Free Your Funk : Frank Nitt, Illa J with Dj J-Heart then SEAN PRICE with his Dj, Roger and finally Guilty Simpson, Med and Dj Dez with dj Ben. Great Hip Hop show in Paris those last weeks.

I went to pick up Sean Price at the airport as I work with Free Your Funk (Parties and shows setters in Paris), I didn’t really know what to expect from him but actually he is just a nice and funny person, talked about Sneakers + made me laugh a lot in the car, listenning to Das Efx and rapping on the miggidy music, asked me how I would spell “figgedy faggots like Rupaul“, googled it and showed him, so he started rapping while reading the lyrics. He is def a great emcee, started to freestyle in the car, just too bad i was driving and that my iphone didn’t have any more battery.
But anyway, he killed it on stage, he was the “Special Guest” so did something like 35 minutes of show, I would say. Really dope perfomence, the man is so charismatic! The crowd was crazy, I let you see by yourself!

Ceux qui me connaissent un peu, savent mon “amour” pour la musique de José James. Alors, bien entendu, je ne pouvais pas rater ce concert avec SOIL AND PIMP, un groupe déganté de jazz.
Je suis un peu déçue que José James n’ait pas joué de nouveaux morceaux, ce qu’il avait fait lors du concert en première partie de Terrence Blanchard. Un gros manque de nouveauté et connaissant une bonne partie de ses nouveaux morceaux, on ne peut qu’être déçu ! Par contre son trio est toujours aussi bon, JJ s’entoure toujours de très bon musiciens !
Soil and Pimp pour m’a part une petite déception aussi, ils nous ont proposé le même set qu’il y a 2 ans !
Allez les gars, la prochaine fois, surprenez nous un peu
