"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything." - Plato

Chris Dave gave an amazing show yesterday in Paris at the club New Morning with Pino Palladino, Kebbi Williams and Tim Stewart. All amazing musicians. The show was so great with a bunch of covers between hip hop jazz and free jazz. Here for you two songs I recorded (with the iphone so don’t expect too great) : Fall in Love (Jay dee) and The Root (d’angelo).
Enjoy.

I have a new dream: I want to hear Thundercat featuring K?m.f. They could make some classic stuff together.

K?m.f. is a French producer/musician now living in Japan. He is known to be half of the French duo Metal Ninja (with Walter Mecca aka Dal-gren) – are you lost already?
This is his first solo album and let me tell you something : this is classic ish. I mean it, the music is amazing, the guitar really dope, the atmosphere really special. I’m really proud of what he came up with for a first album, he just did it so right. The album contents 17 tracks, including 3 tracks with Dal-Gren. I can’t really explain to you the kind of music, it’s instrumental, it’s beautiful, it’s a mix of funk, rock, psychedelic, a little of hip hop… No matter the type of music, it sounds just like a classic album to me, really cinematographic to me.
You can buy it in MP3 just as I did or buy the VHS/USB packaging that is a little too expensive for me but this may be classic stuff, if you have the money, buy it (I’m not saying this is too expensive for what it is, because this is home made VHS, lot of work). Half of the money is going to the Red Cross in Japan, please yourself with some good music and help people out there.
Some words from K?mf As some of you already know, I’ve been living in Japan for a few months now… Luckily, I live on the island of Kyushu in the south of Japan which wasn’t physically impacted by the earthquake, Tsunami and radioactive leaks that followed! The reaction of the Japanese people in light of this disaster imposes my respect. Despite the composure and dignity with which they have been dealing with this catastrophe, the situation in Japan requires immediate action and the solidarity of each and everyone of us. Consequently, we’ve decided, with Weirdata, to donate 50% of all sales of my digital album “Loser’s Quest” to the Red Cross Association in Japan. Please do not see this as a scam or a ploy of some kind to profit from this chaotic situation! It’s just a small attempt, at our level, to contribute, if even just a little, to the rebuilding efforts in Japan, a country that needs our support! Furthermore, this action is fully consistent with the spirit conveyed by the album …
Thank you for your attention and support.
Pour tout les français (désolée je suis assez fainéante pour traduire en français) allez sur Stereotree pour découvrir K?mf en version Fr, une interview vous y attends.
Did I tell you already we have some really good beatmakers in France? Ah yes I did (Saneyes, Dal-Gren, Nicky Lars, Dela, yann kesz, Teru, Onra, Häzel). Well I never talked about Evil Needle. I’ve been listening to his music since a few weeks but never decided to post anything yet. It’s time. Here is his latest project, a smooth LP “Cirrostratus” with 15 nice instrumentals. I put my favorites. He also has 2 projects out, Big Brother EP and Sound Dimension.
And here is the latest track he uploaded, just awesome, I love it :
Just found out on Moovmnt about this upcoming released, “The Mesektet“, out may 6th on Project Moon Circle. The snippet sounds really good, especially “Crying on the in” that was also on his free beattape “First Spaceshit On The Moon“. The artwork is beautiful !

‘The Mesektet’, in ancient egyptian mythology, is one of the two solar boats used by the sun god ‘Ra’ to travel through the cycle of night and day and carry the moon across the sky. It is told that he died every dusk, had to fight the dark forces of the underworld and bring light to the dead souls as he passed through – just to be reborn in the morning. Just like the sun god, uprising producer fLako uses ‘The Mesektet’ to end the cycle of darkness and prepare for his own rebirth, marking the end of an era in his style of production and move forward into new musical directions, which he already started to explore on his ‘Mini Toolbooth EP’. This release includes a collection of previously unreleased or only digitally available works from the time up until 2008.
Taylor McFerrin was in Paris on March 28th and gave a great show at the Sunset Club, an improvised set in two parts : him, a mic, rhodes, m-audio keyboard and a mac. That was my first time seeing him (I saw him at Le Djoon in Paris a few years ago but it was a dj set) and this artist is amazing. Holding people attention and interest by himself for more than one hour is a hard exercise and he did it in an amazing way. Mixing improvised beats with beat box with freestyle… Taylor is a complete artist that gives a lot to the audience. It was like seeing him in his studio tripping and making music for an hour. From the first improvised beats to the special cover of “Everything in its right place” (Radiohead) to the improvised jam with people from the audience, to the beautiful moment on the piano (very emotional, unfortunately i didn’t record it) to the last song freestyling on the basis of “The Look of Love” (Slum village) Taylor gave us a great moment.
My man K?m.f is releasing a new album in April called “Loser’s Quest” on Weirdata (Dal gren & Metal Ninja’s label). Make sure you get it when it’s out. Those guys (K?m.f and Walter Mecca) are some of the finest in France.
Teru is Massive Suits Quartet, a french producer that just released this 4 tracks EP that nicely mixed jazz with electro added to some hip hop influences.
Häzel is a talented french producer you probably listened to already (knowing it or not), he worked with Drake, Ebrahim and Slakah the Beatchild as well as Onra. Here is a 16 tracks project that may introduce you nicely to his work – if you don’t know him – and get you ready for the upcoming EP “Playground” (with an amazing artwork by Mikael Colombu).
The Lost Tapes is a 16 track selection from Häzel’s deep catalog. Previously unreleased, The Lost Tapes is now available for high quality download and also includes a two part, seamless blend of all 16 tracks Download it here
Loveonthebeat.net and Knxwledge are proud to present you the Free EP MANGO. I’m honored to be able to bring that music to you. Knxwledge is one of my favorite “new” producer/beatmaker, his remixes & his productions have something so special to me, he has his own sound and you know it’s rare nowadays. Keep an eye on this artist, he is going to do great things. Download it here.
