Taylor McFerrin was in Paris on March 28th and gave a great show at the Sunset Club, an improvised set in two parts : him, a mic, rhodes, m-audio keyboard and a mac. That was my first time seeing him (I saw him at Le Djoon in Paris a few years ago but it was a dj set) and this artist is amazing. Holding people attention and interest by himself for more than one hour is a hard exercise and he did it in an amazing way. Mixing improvised beats with beat box with freestyle… Taylor is a complete artist that gives a lot to the audience. It was like seeing him in his studio tripping and making music for an hour. From the first improvised beats to the special cover of “Everything in its right place” (Radiohead) to the improvised jam with people from the audience, to the beautiful moment on the piano (very emotional, unfortunately i didn’t record it) to the last song freestyling on the basis of “The Look of Love” (Slum village) Taylor gave us a great moment.

My man K?m.f is releasing a new album in April called “Loser’s Quest” on Weirdata (Dal gren & Metal Ninja’s label). Make sure you get it when it’s out. Those guys (K?m.f and Walter Mecca) are some of the finest in France.
Here is a video by Le Bon Tempo of Nicky Lars’ live at Le Mondialo (Les Sessions d’Abraham) in paris.
Make sure to get the Jamiroquai beat tape if you missed it.

Thanks to facebook I just discover this group, KING. Amazing vocalists and true talented women. Let me introduce you to the twins Amber & Paris Strother and Anita Bias. They do everything by themselves, all instruments and production by Paris and vocals by Amber and Anita. When I say “everything”, I mean it, this video is homemade.
I believe that being able to do everything by ourselves will bring us somewhere, and they may be an amazing example, I hope.
Their first EP “The Story” will be out March 1st. Got support those talented women.

That video almost made me cry. This is just amazing, coco’s voice is amazing and that harp… Just beautiful, timeless.
Great song written by Chris Turner and Jesse Boykins III. First song I really dig from Chris turner.
And here comes the french flavor… or should i say Mikael Colombu‘s flavor because he is doing his own things, with his so particular style. I hope you guys realized how much work that is and how much talent it takes to do that.
I’m amazed.
