A Tribe Called Quest @ Knitting Factory BK from Its The Official on Vimeo.

This is the kind of event that makes me miss NYC a LOT. I wish i was there but I watch this video with lot of pleasure and hope for some upcoming ATCQ’s shows… Yes, why not. I saw them for the first (and only) time during the festival Rock the Bells in 2008, everyone told me “It might be the last time they do a show together” and now I see that they did this show together again. I saw them in NY, in a beautiful place near the water. It was just a dream for me. NYC gave me a chance to see artists I thought I would never see and ATCQ was one of those artists/crews. It was a beautiful day, full of hip hop. This is what this video reminds me of, the NYC I love and the NYC that makes me dream.

Enjoy.

This Damon Dash’s project is a great thing that happens at the perfect moment. I needed something new for my ears. Even through, the project doesn’t revolutionize the music however it is something really fresh and the energy that emanates from the tracks is powerfull. My favorite track so far is Stay Off the fuck*** Flowers with Raekwon. The Black Keys did a great job with all the rappers on the album. Plus, I must say that the promotion was DOPE, the videos were amazing to watch, they did a great work, commercialy speaking. It’s been a long time I didn’t see a promotion that good, mixing the commercial aspect with art so greatly.

Ali Shaheed Muhammad in Paris from Loveonthebeat.net on Vimeo.

So Ali Shaheed Muhammad was in Paris Friday for a Native Tongues tribute with the frenchies Jazz Liberatorz. I wanted to share with you this video of Ali in Paris, he was opening his dj set. I didn’t record people and I should had because the place was packed ! Ali Shaheed Muhammad said something really true about the fact that a Tribute is usualy when you’re dead and I think we should celebrate people (people’s music) while they are still alive. This was a really good night, Ali gave a lot of love and received PLENTY!
The really good news we had was that Ali Shaheed Muhammad is working on a new album that should be out soon with some really good featuring as Jay Electronica or Phife! You should stay tuned!!
