Not new but pretty rare until now, “1000 Deaths” is a song from a James river’s session around 2007. At this time, D’angelo was working on an album called “James River”, Questlove was saying they recorded about 11 songs and it was more rock & psychedelic than the funky Voodoo or the smooth Brown Sugar. But apparently this version of “1000 Deaths” is different from the one some people heard in 2007, did he work on it since? Let’s hope. As the song “Really Love”, “1000 Deaths” is not a finish song so don’t go to hard on him.

On l’espère.
Comme le morceau “Really Love” (sur lequel D’angelo ne chantait aucune parole), “1000 Deaths” est un son non fini donc restez transigeant.

All the people that know me, at least a bit, know that I AM A BIG FAN of D’ANGELO. I used to have a big lists of songs and rare live, that i’ve lost because I did not back up… But well, I still live without it and get used to it (ah…). Today Voodoo is 10… Yes. A masterpiece, a classic. I wish I still had all those mp3 to share it with you for the occasion but ?uestlove did (well it’s audio that we – I think – all know), I invite you to go on twitter and listen to it.
10 years what a long time… Can we still wish for D’ to come back ? Watching all those live and listening to this album + Brown Sugar, I truly hope D’ is at least making some great music in the lab, even if it’s just for him. This man has such a great talent.

I found this mp3 of Bilal singing on Led Zeppelin‘s Since I’ve Been Loving You & Radiohead‘s Everything in its Right Place, on the blog Moovmnt. It was in 2007 but I never had the audio of it, I’ve seen some videos. My dad loves Led Zeppelin so I grew up on this kind of music, it’s just so good to hear Bilal’s voice on it (adding some “fucking” or taking out some words as he likes to do lol) especially with a great band like this – ?uestlove (Drums), Cap’n Kirk (Guitar), Tuba Gooding Jr (Sousaphone), Owen Biddle (Bass), James Poyser (Organ), Robert Glasper (Keys). I LOVE how the 3 songs are link together, the transition between the Radiohead’s song and “Sometimes” is perfect + the groovy moment is killing me!
